About
Mytherapist Tools is an independent editorial directory for therapy and mental health software. We review tools that real therapists use, compare them honestly, and tell you which ones fit which practice.
Principles
Every tool gets at least two weeks of real-workflow use before it appears in a recommendation. No screenshots-from-marketing reviews.
When we earn on a click-through, the fee is the same across every tool in the category. We can't make more by ranking one higher than another.
Mytherapist Tools is a directory of software. No client data passes through us. HIPAA posture is verified vendor-side, before you sign.
Each category has a licensed clinical advisor who shapes what we test for. Credentials live on the category pages, not buried in footers.
If you've spent any time looking for software to run your therapy practice, you've hit the same wall everyone else does. Generic SaaS review sites list every tool that ever existed. Reddit threads are six months out of date. Vendor websites all promise to “transform your practice.” None of it helps you make an actual decision.
We built Mytherapist Tools because we wanted somewhere a therapist could land, find the three tools that actually fit their situation, and move on with their day. That's it.
We don't test every tool. We test the ones that show up most often in therapist communities and the ones vendors submit for editorial review. For each tool we evaluate, we either pay for a subscription or get a vendor-provided trial account, then use it for at least two weeks on real workflows. We don't take vendor talking points at face value.
For each category, we work with a licensed clinical advisor to make sure we're testing against what therapists actually need, not against generic software criteria. Names and credentials are listed on every category page.
Two ways, and we want to be exact about both.
When you click through to a tool from our site and sign up, some vendors pay us a referral fee. That fee is a flat amount, and it is the same for every tool in a category. We earn the same whether you pick the tool we ranked first or the one we ranked last, so it has no effect on what we recommend. Our picks are chosen on merit, and we say so on every page.
Vendors can also pay for a Featured, Premium, or Pro placement. Paid placement moves a tool higher on its category page and adds a label. It does not buy a recommendation. Our editorial verdict is independent of whether a vendor pays us anything.
What we do not do: we do not take payouts that vary by vendor, because that would quietly bias us toward the tools that pay the most. We do not sell your data. We do not run ads against your search.
We don't handle protected health information. Nothing on Mytherapist Tools touches client data. We are a directory of software. Therapists who use the tools we recommend should verify HIPAA compliance and sign BAAs directly with each vendor before any patient data goes anywhere near them.
We don't give clinical advice. Everything on this site is software-related. If a tool's marketing materials make clinical claims, we treat that as a yellow flag, not a feature.
The team
Mytherapist Tools is run by two founders working out of Lagos, Nigeria. We started as engineers who watched therapist friends and family members lose entire weekends to software shopping. The combination of building close to the problem and being far enough from the US vendor sales cycle to stay honest seemed worth doing.
