Wave offers genuinely free core accounting and invoicing - unlimited invoices, expense tracking, and basic financial reports - making it a popular starting point for new solo therapists who handle their own books. You pay only for add-ons like payment processing, payroll, and advisor/bookkeeping support. It is industry-agnostic (no therapy-specific deduction expertise) and lighter on integrations and reporting than QuickBooks or Xero, but the zero-cost basics are hard to beat for a brand-new private-pay practice.
